Lives and works in Copenhagen Denmark
Morten Lobner Espersen received an education in the early 90’s in Copenhagen, where he learnt how to master his craft according to the rules. Ever since, he has been busy challenging these teachings. His taste for experimenting led him to deconstruct all the principles he learnt, and question them. Over the years, he has made of a simple bucket shaped vessel his object of choice, on which he applies; layer by layer, firing after firing thick layers of ever-surprising glazes. Fascinated by the versatility of that material, he works towards his goal "to master errors in the glaze to perfection" by a assuming a prolific production, inevitably embracing the unexpected as the inherent consequence of is material’s choice.
Morten Lobner Esperson’s works are part of the collection of V&A Museum, London; MAD, Museum of Arts and Design, New York, Boymans van Beuningen, Rotterdam.
