Pierre Marie Giraud is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of works by Scottish ceramicist Jennifer Lee, taking place at our gallery from Wednesday, April 23rd to Wednesday, May 14th, 2025. This exhibition offers a chance to explore Lee’s hand-built ceramic pots, which have contributed to her recognition as a prominent figure in contemporary ceramics.
Born in 1956 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, Jennifer Lee began her artistic career at Edinburgh College of Art, where she studied ceramics and tapestry from 1975 to 1979. Her early work was influenced by a traveling scholarship to the USA, where she studied South-West Indian prehistoric ceramics and contemporary West Coast pottery. Lee continued to refine her craft at the Royal College of Art in London, where she studied from 1980 to 1983.
Lee’s extensive travel has played a significant role in shaping her work, with influences from Egypt, India, Japan, and Australia. She is known for her distinctive technique of incorporating metallic oxides directly into the clay, producing unique, vibrant pots. Her attention to detail and exploration of the relationship between material, color, and form have garnered her international recognition.
This exhibition will feature a selection of Lee’s recent works, providing insight into the ongoing development of her practice and her continued exploration of ceramic art. Each piece reflects her deep understanding of material and her ability to create a balanced harmony between form and color.
We invite you to attend the opening exhibition on Wednesday, April 23rd, from 6 to 8 PM. For more information or inquiries, please feel free to contact us.
