Ritsue Mishima showed a new series of artworks in this exhibition, for which the creative process of the glass itself served as an inspiration and a central topic.

In a rapidly emerging career spanning more than two decades, Ritsue Mishima has developed an internationally acclaimed reputation as one of the most riveting and innovative artists working with the medium of glass. She is known for her organic forms which, despite being amorphous and irregular, are always perfectly clear, luminous and yet varied in terms of scale and technique.

Ritsue Mishima unceasingly challenges herself to explore the boundaries of glass’s possibilities; and in doing so, she always finds new expressions that add a fresh perspective to an age-old craft. ‘Pure consciousness’ is what she replied when asked what she is looking for in a form. ‘A place of no answers, only the process of keeping passion alive and acting upon feelings.’
